Gobi (Cauliflower) Kadhi

Kadhi is a dish that is made in various parts of North India. There are many versions of this dish like pakoda kadhi, gujarathi kadhi, rajasthani kadhi etc. This being our family favourite is made quite often at our home. This time I wanted to try something hatke than the normal. So I added added cauliflower instead of pakodas. My entire family and friends loved this version. Hence I decided to blog this one. Hope you all like it :)
Ingredients:

Gobi (Cauliflower) - 1 small
Yogurt - 1 cup
Besan - 3 tbsp
Onions - 2 small thinly sliced
Tomatoes - 2 small chopped
Jeera - 1/2 tsp
Methi seeds - 1/4 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri chilli powder - 2 tsp
Haldi powder - 1/2 tsp
Green chilli - 1 slit into 2
Ginger - 1" julienned
Kasuri methi - 1 tsp
Salt - As per taste
Coriander leaves - 2 tsp finely chopped 

Method:
  • Wash and cut out medium sized florets of gobi.
  • Dip them in hot haldi water in order to remove any dirt or worms.
  • After 15 mins strain them and wash thoroughly again under running water.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add jeera, methi seeds, sliced onions,slit green chilli and fry till the onions become translucent.
  • Add the chopped tomatoes, salt and cook till they become supple.
  • Whisk the yogurt and besan together well in a mixer. 
  • Once the tomatoes become supple add the coriander, chilli, cumin and haldi powders and mix well.
  • Add the gobi florets and stir.
  • Sprinkle some water and cook uncovered on medium flame until it is half done. Keep stirring in between.
  • Now add the whisked yogurt mixture to the gobi, cover and cook on low flame till done. Add 1/4 cup water if required.
  • Finally add Kasuri methi, check for salt. Cover and cook for another five minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, stir well,remove from flame and garnish with garam masala and coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with rotis or jeera rice.

Note:
  • Whisk yogurt and besan well to avoid curdling while cooking.
  • Do not overcook the gobi pieces.
